My Achille’s Heel

The other day was my day off so I decided to head out on an adventure, to check out a new Indian Grocery (Gopu Grocery on Daniel Webster Hwy) that opened up as well as walk around the mall, as I haven’t done so in about a year.  I was a little disappointed they didn’t have any Asian grocery items as advertised but they did have a great selection and I got a bag of rice and a few things to try. I really wish instead of heading next door at Shanghai Osaka, I had just eaten at the mall. I would have saved money and hassle. The service was horrible and despite me repeatedly stating I had an allergy to tomatoes after finding them in my egg drop soup  (who puts tomatoes in egg drop soup anyway), they gave me a new cup with again bits of tomato in that also adding to the fact that I was never really assisted yet the couple at the other table (the only other customers) were greeted repeatedly. I had to get up and call the waiter multiple times and even after informing them of the issue the second time no offer for a replacement was made, ya I’m not going back there again.  I then headed to the mall 20 pounds heavier, as I already had my backpack full and now had a ten pound bag of rice. Target of course had a tone of Hello Kitty stuff and I couldn’t resist. I was sad though when I found out the Sanrio store had closed in my absence. I decided since I had to stop downtown anyway to go to Lucky Dog Thrift shop to take pictures of their signage so that I can work on my freelance designs for them and of course found more stuff (I don’t think I ever leave without getting something).

Saying Goodbye and Hello

Yesterday was my last day at the job I have worked at for a little over five years So many faces have come and gone and It was bittersweet leaving. I love the company but It wasn’t my passion and I don’t want to just work I want to do something I’m passionate about.  I am now headed in the right direction as I head to my new job at a copy print center. I will miss everyone at the job I left but I promised to pop in once in a while and most have me on social media. I much appreciated everything my supervisor Rose did for me from giving me rides home to just being a great person to work with, so I wiped up some crafty magic and made her a gift and I am happy she loved it.

Antiquing Adventure

Went antiquing yesterday, it was my day off and I decided to head out on an adventure. I’m supper excited to have found a chair for my BJD, Zandir as well as some great items for crafting. I met to really sweet ladies Adel & Charlotte at 101A Antique & Collectible center. I got the chair and bird card holder from them and they were nice enough to drop the price a bit on the card holder. Charlotte was also nice enough to run to her house to grab a bonnet to show me, it was out of my price range but I greatly appreciate the honor of seeing it and of talking with them. As promised I took plenty of picks of Zan on his new chair. I also snagged a few things at a barn sale including a tea set for Zan today before work.

Anime Boston 2014

Got back from Anime Boston Sunday. I had a wonderful time and met so may wonderful people. I was so excited to get the opportunity to meet Greg Ayers, as I was unable to the last time I attended AB. I also met the American voices of Tuxedo Mask (Toby Proctor) and Sailor Moon (Linda Ballantine) as well as John Stocker . Sonia Liao is responsible for the beautifully done commission I had Greg sign. Her work is beautiful as was the work of all the talented people in artist ally. I was able to attend some wonderful panels and enjoyed some major freedom, that and I think I made one hell of a butler.

Framing & Antiquing & Cosplay

Its been a while since I have posted, things have been super crazy. Right now I am busy preparing for Anime Boston. I haven’t been able to go to a con in a while so I’m excited to go, of course as usual I am well prepared and almost finished packing. I will be hopefully making posts during the con as I can’t go anywhere without my camera. I got a second part-time job as a framing specialist at A.C. Moore I can say I love it though now I have to fight the urge not to spend my entire paycheck on craft supplies. The extra money will definitely help and as always every job is a new chance to expand my skills and continue to grow. I love seeing the art work our customers get framed everything has a story and there are so many talented people to meet. Its a big responsibility to be entrusted with something so special to someone framing isn’t cheap so the customer has to really care about the piece. I love putting together a great design for their piece and its even better when I see the final results/ a happy customer. In other news we now have an absolutely lovely Antique shop in downtown Nashua called Glorious Possibilities I went in for the first time yesterday and then again today with my mother, who after I raved about it decided to check it out to. Its housed in what was an old library and houses a beautiful array of vintage clothing, antiques, home decor and handmade items. I am so happy to have it close bye and am even happier it is a good one.

Vintage finds: Vintage Photograph

Its been awhile since I have gone antiquing or thrifting but Thursday my grandmother and I went antiquing in downtown Laconia. I have been on the look out for old picture frames and was happy when I snagged a nice one for cheep. I also snagged an old photograph in a small metal frame. The photo caught my eye as I was purchasing the frame and I couldn’t pass it up.
